Monday Mission 0930

Promo Guy's Monday Mission. From him to me to you and back again.

1. Who has authority over you? At work, my boss has authority over me. He's given me a pretty long leash, but when all is said and done, he's the higher authority. It's his ass on the line. In my non-working life, I would say no one. However, there are probably those who would say otherwise.

2. Where do you go to get a feeling of community? A little cafe about a block from my office. It's one of those places where everyone knows your name. Or, if they don't, they soon do.

3. What do you do, or have you done, in your life that "goes against the tide?" I don't really know what you're looking for here. In arguments, I'm often the one who ends up defending the villain or the unpopular position. Not because I necessarily believe in the villain or the unpopular position, but to try to draw people's attention to the other side. This doesn't work well with close-minded people, though.

4. Have you ever used guilt to get you what you want? Have you ever had it used on you? How did you react? I was raised on guilt. When raising my girls, I specifically shied away from using guilt on them. That's not to say I haven't tried it. I have, and I just felt guilty.

5. Did you ever do anything in public with your friends as a teenager that you would never do today? Tell me about that. Too long ago and too insignificant to remember.

6. If you were to go to an island for three months, what five "luxury items" would you bring and why? A three month supply of Diet Coke, an ice maker, and a generator to power the ice maker. That's all assuming there would be fresh water somewhere on the island. Two really long books.

7. If you would have had a choice, in which time period would you have like to have lived? Why? I like the times we live in now. Maybe Middle Europe during the transition into the Renaissance Period. Why? Because that's all I can think of right now.

BONUS: Where do you dare me to draw the line? To the left of ten.
