The confuzed revealed

Now we find out who is really confused between soon to be former governor George Ryan and governor hopeful Jim Ryan. Back on Sunday, October 13, 2002, I wrote about this very issue. I think I said something along the lines of people really aren't as stupid as the politicians want us to think we are.

The AFL-CIO (it's more than just a union; it's a political force if can you take them seriously after this fiasco), did a mailing comparing the two candidates for governor. I haven't seen the mailing. But, according to the article in today's State Journal Register, the parts about "Jim Ryan" were mislabeled to say "George Ryan." And, they included a photo of George Ryan, to boot. (Wrong Ryan in union campaign mailing | AFL-CIO misidentifies candidate for governor)

Margaret Blackshere, president of the Illinois AFL-CIO, said Tuesday that a technical error by the printer in Washington caused the problem.

Oh, give me a break! Technical error. Ha! You'd think someone from Illinois would have checked the brochure before it was sent out. Someone should have checked it. What does this say about the credibility of labor as a political force in Illinois?

Apparently, Jim Ryan was right to be concerned that voters might confuse him for George Ryan.
