Hand outs

Christine has an entry on BigPinkCookie about Karyn, the chick who went on the Internet to raise money to bail her out of debt to the tune of $20,000. According to CNN she raised $13,300 from hundreds of donors. That combined with other sources, and despite the efforts of DontSaveKaryn.com, she has now broken even. And it looks like her web site is down as of now.

That reminded me of another chick named Penny. Penny was on our local radio station several months ago promoting her website HelpMeLeaveMyHusband.com. Penny, unlike Karyn, isn't earning the big bucks. She wants the money to put herself through school so she can start earning some bucks. Since August 2002, Penny has raised $1,386.00. Maybe Penny should take some tips from Karyn.

When I first heard about these chicks trying to get money from strangers, I was a little offended. Now, I don't really care. To each his or her own. Whatever it takes.

Now, where did I put my "donation" button. [hehe]

My campaign to raise money to hire people to kneecap Karyn failed but now that she's been on televison and figuring out who she is exactly isn't work for a private detective the price might actually be affordable. Who's in?

The funny part is that some of the many friends of Karyn (including one fella who claims he went to high school with her) took me very seriously. Reactions ranged from legal (somebody has a lawyer daddy) to reciprocal threats. It's pretty hard to feel anything about it.

Some people are just humorless. I'm laughing. But hey, you know me, I'll laugh at just about anything.
