No wake zone

Does this look like something out of old Europe, or what? No, probably not.

The fog was really heavy when I woke up this morning. Never one to let a photo-op pass me by, I hightailed it down to the boat launch at the Vachel Lindsay Bridge. I was the only one there. It was so peaceful and quiet and serene. A good time and place for reflecting.

Much of my childhood was spent on Lake Springfield. My dad had a little boat. He'd take me and my brother and my mom on Sunday afternoon boat rides around the lake. I loved those boat rides and wanted them to never end. Right when we'd get under this bridge, he'd blast his air compressed horn in a can. It was so loud. Of course, it was made even louder by the sound bouncing off the concrete walls of the bridge. I squealed every time, "do it again."

This morning, I could still hear a faint echo of that horn under that bridge.
