Today was my first session with my new student. I'm not really a teacher and he's hardly a student. He wants to learn how to use a computer and all that entails. He's a lawyer with a not very sterling reputation. I've known of him for about 15 years, but our paths never crossed until recently. I don't think he's ever had a secretary, and except for hiring out an occasional document for typing, he does most of his work on a typewriter.

I didn't recognize the brand of computer, but it had Window ME on it. I asked him if he bought it used, thinking he'd just recently acquired it. He said he bought it two years ago new. He's never used it. Although, someone has loaded it up with a bunch of useless software.

We only had time for one thing today. He said he heard you could play music CD's on the computer. I successfully refrained from rolling my eyes, and taught him how to fire up Media Player and load the CD. The CD he brought had a picture on the cover of a beautiful girl. Who she was or what she was singing, I have no idea, because I couldn't read any of the words on the cover. The music was in another language and the CD came from another country. Interesting.

By the time we were done, he was beaming with joy. And I was more than a little amazed by the whole scene.

I have a client that is constantly amazed at little, easy stuff. Got to love them! Or kill them. ;-)
