A spy in the house

Hollywood is making a case for a digital broadcast "flag" to be built into every new digital-TV receiver and they're taking their case to Congress. Basically, the flag would let copyright holders (read MPAA, the Hollywood equivalent of the RIAA) to track what you watch and copy on your television. See, Business Week Online: Will Your TV Become a Spy? for more details.

For another side of the story, see New Architect: Minds of Their Own - Copyright protection flags violate our right to fair use.
