Break out of someone else's frames
Another corporate biggie tries to cash in on a patent. This time SBC is claiming it is entitled to $50 million in licensing fees for the use of frames on web sites. Yeah, that makes me like SBC a whole bunch. Not. See: News.Com: SBC stakes claim on Web frames patent.

did you hear of a british company that tried to collect royalties for the use of the windows concept (point-and-click, etc.)? something like that. they claim to have patents for this from long ago. i'll see if i can find a link to the story, though it's been a while since i last read it.
