A good article with lots of links about how Google updates its index, a/k/a The Google Dance:

• Kuro5hin: Google Dance.

Fascinating reading. And probably more valuable to web sites that sell things or offer a service than to your everyday blog. That's not to say that everyday blogs aren't valuable.
