So far away

My daughter is in almost daily e-mail contact with a very good friend of hers who is a U.S. Marine aboard the USS Nassau somewhere in the Persian Gulf. It hasn't escaped me that we could really "capitalize" in the blogging world on his being there. But, I refrain for my own reasons.

Loosely along those same lines, and I really hesitate to post this in the same context, Israel has issued a warning to web sites that might post information that could pose a threat to the State of Israel. See, New.com: Israel warns Web sites on war coverage. Actually, nothing new there.

It would be nice if instead of issuing silly orders about what goes on a few web pages they could issue gas masks to the Palestinians. 60,000 of whom it seems are not worth protecting from any gas attacks.

the israeli government doesn't care what happens to the palestinians. i'm guessing they're waiting for them to be wiped out so that they don't have further opposition to the occupied territory. (why can't they try the common sense tactic of just giving up that land and seeing if hostilities come to a standstill?)
