On the excellent advice of Kristine, I have finally installed the Mozilla Firebird Browser. Thanks Kristine!

I'm posting this entry in it now. After just a few minutes, already I can tell this is a keeper. I love tabbed browsing so much. Two things: One, the little bold, italics, underline, and URL buttons in the MT posting window aren't there. I'm sure there's an explanation for that, and maybe even a fix. Two, I'm still trying to figure out how to save a group of tabs for simultaneoius opening later.

Yay, glad you are trying it out :)

The bold, italics, and URL button don't work in anything but IE for Windows, unfortunately. So that is one thing I miss a bunch. I've seen tutorials on adding them in for Mozilla, and when I come across that link again, I'll try to remember to pass it your way.
And I know you can do that with multiple tabs at a time. . . I think that you can bookmark things in folders and then use the "open all in tabs" to open them all at once. Another trick - you can have multiple homepages by having more than one tab open, and then go into Options and set Use Current Pages -- so I have 3 on mine now, and its excellent!! :)

Have a happy evening! Ack, how did it get to be midnight already?!!! :)

Perhaps we could start up a support group to help save those poor tabs. I'm sure Greenpeace would help out too.

Wow, you're every where Kristine. Yeah, I miss the buttons to but Mozilla is a great browser, and with the latest builds it appears to be as stable (or moreso) than IE.

Another nice thing (and this is assuming that the Linux build is the same as the Windows build) is that mouse wheel clicks on links automagically open them in new tabs. Most modern browsers will do this with a wee bit of configuration but Phoenix is the first one I've seen that does this by default.

Bleh. I had recommended it 3 months ago. :p

It was just called "Phoenix" at the time.

And it's definitely great. :)

Ben, I am so sorry. You are absolutely right, and I totally forgot. Probably because the next day I tried to install it at work, but I couldn't unzip it with the zip utility on that computer, and I didn't have time to go out in search of a zip that would do the job. So, I just sort of forgot about it. Please accept my apology for not mentioning you when I should have.

Hey, take it easy, I'm just ribbin' ya. You might not have known about the name change, and I'd sure have forgotten about the recommendation had it been the other way around.
