Fishing for something to do

license_to_fish.jpg

Just when I thought I'd heard of everything, here comes bowfishing. As in, with a bow and arrow. Or, bow and reel, as the case may be. I had never heard of this until now. Apparently, it's all the rage. I don't know, but the picture this conjures up is a little comical. Ah, well, use your own imagination.

An article in the Texarckana Gazette (Bowfishing surges in popularity) describes the sport, offers sound advice (wear polarized sunglasses so you can see into the water), and, thankfully, warns of the possible dangers:

Many a Bowfisherman has been injured by string snapback. Simply put, when you release the bowstring the line tied to the back of the arrow has a tendency to wrap around the bowstring. Your shot you hoped would hit the fish suddenly stops just past the bow and snaps back into your face.

Can I get an ouch?

This post is brought to you by the fact that I'm still around despite the fact that I only posted one thing in the last week.

She's alive!!! I'm very glad to see you're OK. I was beginning to worry a little about you...

Why am I not surprised that the bowfishing article you stumbled across is from Texarkana?!?!

Me: I thought you were dead.
Marie: Well, now you know better.
