State fair

The Illinois State Fair runs for ten days from Friday, August 8. Among the many grandstand acts this year are Hank Williams, Jr., Ted Nugent and the Fabulous Thunderbirds, and the Goo Goo Dolls with Lisa Marie Presley. Ticket prices range from $18 to $30.
Oh! Eddie Money will be in the arena on Tuesday the 12th. Ticket prices are $5.00. Five Dollars! What a value!

Regarding the photo, that's the grandstand on the right, not to be confused with the milkshake stand on the left.

Is the big slide still there?

Oh, yeah! It's still there in all its glory. I wonder if I'm the only one who relates the big slide to Jim Thompson?

I do too, actually. I also associate Ewing Castle in Bloomington with him because that is where the McLean County Republicans had their picnic every year--and before I could remember he apparently took me around the picnic on his shoulders.
