Illinois wine country

Whenever I think of Illinois wine, the only thing that comes to mind is watermelon wine. Why that is, I'm not sure, since I don't think I've ever actually had any Illinois watermelon wine. Apparently, Illinois wine is much bigger than watermelon wine.

Illinois has about 30 or 40 commercial wineries. That's good to know, especially in light fact that someone on TV just reported that our governor thinks that most of the wine produced in Illinois comes from California. That makes no sense at all.

I'm thinking about maybe getting some Illinois wine this weekend.

I just want to say how proud I am that people such as Marie (posted July 10, 2003) are opening their mind to Illinois Wine. I work for the largest winery in Illinois and I know that there is much more than 'watermelon' wine here in Illinois.

Lynfred Winery will be celebrating its 25th year in 2004 and has been opening the minds of wine drinkers all over the world through the years (Charlie Trotter has sincerely helped us by adding our Cabernet Sauvignon to his wine list).

I find it fun to try wine from everywhere and anywhere with an open mind, you'd be surprised what you can find now that there is at least one winery in all 50 states. So Marie, enjoy your wine adventures and come see us sometime!

Unfortunately, I am unable to get Illinois wines shipped to New Jersey. In this way, I have tried wines from six states. I'd really love to try yours. As for Watermelon wine, I wish I COULD try it -- never yet saw it!
