How sausage gets made
The SJR runs an AP article on the political lobby scene in Illinois with facts and figures (Lobbyists' reports show limits of law: Not all expenses have to be disclosed):
... there's no public scrutiny of how much is paid to such big-name lobbyists as former Gov. Jim Thompson, who works for SBC and others. Those contracts can range from $10,000 to $100,000 for a couple of weeks of work, lobbyists say.
Uh, dare I say this? Don't knock 'em 'til you try 'em. Take a walk up and down Second Street in this town, and you'll be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't want a piece of this pie.

*Snickers* You said sausage...
I am transported back to elementary school, where mention by the teacher of anything symbolic of anything sexual in nature got a rolling thunder of snickers throughout the room.
