On this day
Two years ago.
In the morning: My youngest daughter and I were standing in front of the television watching the aftermath of the attack on the first tower. Moments later I'm in my room getting ready for work when I hear her yell out, "Another plane just hit the other building."
In the evening: My oldest daughter and I discussed plans to arm this house and its occupants to the hilt.

Did you end up going to work?

Yes. As my then boss left for the day about 9:15 that morning (only unusual thing there is that he rarely came in), he said to me and my co-worker, "you girls stay here and get lots of work done." So, as soon as he walked out the door, we huddled and talked and speculated and productivity was a total zero for the day.
