Rabbits
This neighborhood is full of rabbits. Last year the rabbits were so thick, I inadvertently stepped on one. Actually, I think it ran under my foot as I was walking. Another time, a rabbit stepped on me. Today I saw the strangest thing: A rabbit carrying a mouse in its mouth. I have no idea what was going on. But, I alawys thought rabbits were vegetarians.

Carrying it how? Like a mother cat would carry a kitten or a lion would carry an antelope? Actually, it doesn't matter. You step on rabbits, rabbits step on you, carnivorous bunnies... this is all very strange.

Are you sure it wasn't a baby rabbit?! It's strange that you mention rabbits, because we have a ton in our neighborhood too! Each night, there are at least 2-3 rabbits in our front yard. Are they taking over??

Without being able to get close enough to inspect, I can only assume it was a mouse. The size was right and it had a tail. Now that you mention it, the rabbit was carrying the mouse like a lion would carry a antelope.
Is anyone except me suddenly thinking "jackalope?"

Ha! There used to be a store on a highway in our town (Ft. Worth, TX) that had a giant jackalope statue on its roof. If I can find a picture of it, I'll be sure to send it your way...
