Japan earthquake

So, I’m sitting here in the midwestern U.S., unwinding from a grueling day at work, drinking my lemon aid, reading the day’s e-mail, and I flip CNN on the television. There’s Lou Dobbs, reporting from New York on an Atlanta cable station, showing live film from Japan and talking on the phone to a seismologist in Golden, Colorado, about an 8.0 earthquake in Hokkaido, Japan.

My first instinct is to quickly go to Joi Ito’s blog in Tokyo to find out what is going on over there. I learn that while Joi felt a tremor, he didn’t actually realize the magnitude of what was going on or blog about it until he got a comment from Los Angeles blogger Jason D. asking him about the earthquake on another of Joi’s posts. Small world. Best wishes and prayers to everyone that was or will be affected by this.
