Dear LL

Today you went to the Senate
The Cubs’ll win the pennant
And you pleaded your case
But can you play the bass
(chut chut chet chet chut chut)

You told them your music I stole
Making ‘em think that was my goal
But still you’re gettin’ rich
and I’m just an angry middle aged white bitch
(chut chut chet chet chut chut)

In case anyone is wondering, that was me rapping to LL Cool J. Talented aren’t I? Heh.

Today the U.S. Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations heard testimony from LL Cool J, among others, on Privacy & Piracy: The Paradox of Illegal File Sharing on Peer-to-Peer Networks and the Impact of Technology on the Entertainment Industry.

That link has some witness statements. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a transcript of Mr. Cool J’s testimony. I heard a small portion of what he said on the radio today, though. As part of his testimony, he made a plaintive plea on behalf of Elvis’s estate. He said Elvis’s estate is being deprived of income because people are downloading music on the Internet. Really? Is that the best he could come up with to try to put a stop to file sharing? If so, he doesn’t have a clue.

Staged.
