Red is gray and yellow white

Dismal Saturdays remind me of walking to Dirty Gertís where they made skinny hotdogs on steamed buns with mustard and celery salt, the greasiest french fries, and the best homemade banana milkshakes. I would walk there now, but Iíd have to put on my shoes and socks. Besides, itís 200 miles away, and the health department probably closed it down by now.

Days of future passed.

I changed the colors.

Lookin' good. But did you really eat at a place called "Dirty Gert's"? I've never had a banana milkshake and I can't say that it sounds all that good. Maybe I'd have to try one.

Dismal Saturdays and Sundays especially I love. The only thing worth doing is lying on the couch reading.

Like the colors.. very relaxing.

I've eaten at places like Dirty Gerts. Junior's (where you had to order in code), the stops at "The Varsity", the original "Dreamland Ribs", Big Spring Cafe, etc. There is something about those slices of Americana that draw you in and make you cuss later.. :)

Gerts on Kedzie Ave in Chicago?

Posted by: Gerts at October 26, 2003 12:28 AM

Correction: Gerts on 63rd Street & Hamlin Avenue on the Southside of Chicago?

Posted by: Gerts at October 26, 2003 12:35 AM

Wow! This was on Ashland north of Fullerton. Is there actually a Gert's on 63 & Hamlin?

I guess you went away, Gerts...

Yes, half a block from the high school I attended.
One day at lunch one of the guys, sitting at a table with me and a few cronies, lit a cigarette, with a match, blew on the match, and thought he has blown it out, and threw it in the red plastic basket, lined with wax paper, that the fries came in. Instantly the french fry grease caught fire. Flames shot to the ceiling! Was a riot.

I rikey the colors, Marie! I have been thinking of going with some light tans/browns myself, but I don't want to be a copycat now... :\

Jeff - Please copy the colors. This isn't quite the look I was going for and hence, is subject to change in the future. I wouldn't think of you as a copycat, anyway. You are definitely one of a kind!

i like these colors, they are very zen, but i dont think they seem to match your personality. you seem a little brighter than zen. just a suggestion.

I once tried zen, but it gave me a rash.
