Forty years ago today

As for me, Ill always remember that day. It was a Friday afternoon, November 22, the day after my birthday. I was in Mrs. Murray's second grade class. As a second grader, I was probably more impacted by how sad and upset everyone else was.

School was dismissed early. When I got home, my mom was sitting in the living room watching the television. She pulled me to her and began crying. Of course, I started crying too. A few minutes later, my dad came home early from work.

Mrs. Murray and I still see each other. We try to get together every couple years. Our birthdays are on the same day. Every time we see each other, we relive that day.

Happy belated birthday, Marie. It must be difficult having a birthday so close to this fabled date...

Not difficult at all. Maybe if I had been older when it happened. Thanks Jeff. :)

Happy belated birthday!!

Like you, I was in grade school and someone on my bus had a transistor radio. I was more concerned about my teachers, parents and adult reactions than to the tragedy itself. I saw Ruby shoot Oswald on television and was quite upset for the same reasons. It kind of felt like my life would never be the same, not unlike 9/11.

Take care,
