Paul Simon rest in peace

Paul Simon, former two-time U.S. Senator from Illinois, passed away today following complications from heart surgery. I had the honor of meeting him several times at functions in Springfield. They don’t make ‘em like him anymore. If anyone wants to know what a true and dedicated public servant really is, study Paul Simon. He had the best interest of the people in his heart and mind, and not special interests. We are all better for his service in government.

This is a sad day for Illinois and for our nation. My heart goes out to his family.

You are right. There are very few public servants that actually serve the public anymore. I am sorry to hear of his passing.

I wonder how so honest a person could succeed in Illinois politics.

I vote for Democrats, there's no denying that. But recently it's always more a case of voting for the least bad alternative. When Senator Simon ran for president in 1988, he was the candidate I felt pleased to really support. I mourn his passing.
