200 new laws
Two hundred new laws go into effect in Illinois today. Among the highlights are:
- Increase in the minimum wage to $5.50 an hour.
- Automobile booster safety seats for children ages 4 through 7.
- Police must now record the race of the driver in traffic stops.
- No more slow pokes in the left lane.
- Insurance companies are required to reveal their 19th Century slavery policies.
- And [drum roll] popcorn is finally the offical state snack food.

Just for the record. Does that mean anyone who violates the popcorn law goes to Joliet?
