More Illinois jobs gone

It seems like everyday some company is closing all or part of their U.S. operations in favor of overseas production.

Yesterday it was the 87 year old Chicago company, Radio Flyer, maker of little red wagons (ABC7: Radio Flyer to move production of wagons to China).

Today, the U.K.'s EMI announced it will slash 1,500 U.S. jobs (EMI to Cut Artist Roster and Close 2 CD Plants). That includes over 400 jobs at the plant Jacksonville, Illniois (KHQA: Jacksonville Company Will Cut 434 Jobs). Capitol Records opened the plant in Jacksonville to meet production needs for Beatles albums.

Bonus link: What the codes on your Capitol Beatles records mean - must reading for anyone who studied and memorized every album cover and liner they ever owned.
