mySQL setup

Instead of going around and stabbing at databases in the dark, as I've been known to do, I figured it's best to just read the instructions. Here's a link for future reference:

EDIT: That's for cPanel 4 users, but it also works on the current version.

Does your hosting company have a program called "Fantastico" available in you package of features? Because if they do, you can use it to set up all sorts of pre-loading blogging, database, forum type sites.

That's how I set up Blog Peoria!

Hi Bill! Yes, it does have Fantastico. However, the geekette in me really prefers to do things the hard way. Well, not so much the hard way as it is knowing how things do what they do. Or somethign like that. Actually, I shouldn't do anything at this time of night When I'm motivated conflicts with my ability.

You know: I know how to take change my own oil and change my own tires.

I still pay to have it done.

Saves time. And it's the smart thing to do.

Think about it.

Cpanel is the easy way to deal with PHPmyadmin which is the actual GUI to MySQL. You're already dealing with one layer of abstraction. I can also buy shredded lettuce in a cellophane bag with a foil packet of croutons attached but making your own salad is how you get the salad you want.

Marie: You are converting to the darkside: wrasslin' with databases at 2am is one of the early warning signs :)
