Ray Charles

Hit the Road, Jack. Rock and soul legend Ray Charles passed away today at the age of 73. Rest in peace, Ray.

This is kind of a strange little thing that happened about 10 or 15 years ago. I came home from work one evening to find the UPS man delivering a box to my house. I met him on the porch, signed for it, and took it inside. It was quite heavy. The shipping label said it was from Ray Charles. I can't recall what the return address was, or even if there was one. Perplexed as to why Ray Charles would be sending me anything, I opened the box. Inside was a case of Diet Pepsi. Why this was sent to me, I have no idea. There was no note. I'm sure Pepsi probably sent out thousands of those cases.

CRYING TIME
(Owens)

Oh, it's crying time again, you're gonna leave me
I can see that far away look in your eyes
I can tell by the way you hold me darling Oooh
That it won't be long before it's crying time

Now they say that absence makes the heart grow fonder (fonder)
And that tears are only rain to make love grow
Well my love for you could never grow no stronger (stronger)
If I lived to be a hundred years old

Oh, it's crying time again, you're gonna leave me
I can see that far away look in your eyes
I can tell by the way you hold me darling. Yeah now
That it won't be long before it's crying time

Now you say you've found someone that you love better (better)
That's the way it's happened every time before
And as sure as the sun comes up tomorrow ('morrow)
Crying time will start when you walk out the door

Oh, it's crying time again, you're gonna leave me
I can see that far away look in your eyes
I can tell by the way you hold me darling. Alright now
That it won't be long before it's crying time
