Probably by now, everyone who even marginally cares about the current state of artist rights and creativity, and the people who enjoy the works of said artists, has heard of the recently proposed federal legislation entitled, INDUCE Act (2 page PDF). We can all guess who is most likely behind the proposed legislation and why.

I just finished reading Ernest Millerís Obsessively Annotated Introduction to the INDUCE Act. That is, the introduction by the U.S. senator who brings us the INDUCE Act. With annotations, itís a long document. But, itís an interesting, fast, and easy read. Reading it, some famous words kept coming to mind:

[...] that this government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

Who said that? A wise man. Someone from my hometown.

So, if a government of the people, by the people, and for the people, shall not perish from this earth, then what becomes of a government of the corporations, by the corporations, and for the corporations? Because thatís what weíre coming to, little by little.
