Political spam

I just received an unsolicited political spam e-mail that has to go down as one of the ugliest smear campaigns in Illinois political history. The reason it was sent to me can only be left to the imagination because it involves a political race in which I can't even vote.

Unfortunately, the anonymous coward who sent it neglected to fully identify himself to the extent that he identified others in the e-mail. So, if he was hoping I would spread the word by copying and pasting it into a blog entry, he was sadly mistaken.

It doesn't matter if it's true or not. It's dirty politics in its lowest form and doesn't deserve to the see the light of day.

My hope is that any other Illinois bloggers who might have received the e-mail will not give it any credence by blogging its contents.

Kudos to you for refusing to post the e-mail. I've seen the e-mail posted in the comment section of a couple of blogs, and on the Leader message board. It's ugly, laden with stereotypes, and contains personal information (addresses, license plates, home phone numbers) that open innocent people up to harassment.

It's just wrong, and the worst kind of dirty trick.
