Cheap clothes

I keep seeing television commercials for S+K Men's Wear. We have such a store here in town. They sell discount men's clothing. These spots remind me of something that happened a long time ago.

My dearly departed former boss, Timmy (his name was really Tim or Timothy, but I called him Timmy out of affection), was very proud of his wardrobe. He was a real sharp dresser, usually spending $400 or $500 or $600 on a suit off the rack. After he started having kids, though, his clothes budget was dramatically reduced.

One day, much to his glee, he discovered S+K. He was so thrilled to discover cheap clothes. He went to one of their sales where he picked up two suits, one navy and one dark grey, for $120.00. Just to reiterate, that's $120.00 for two suits – not $120.00 each.

He wore the navy suit first. I have to admit, it looked like a $400 suit – from a distance. Up close, though, it was a different situation.

He was standing in front of my desk talking to me when I noticed something not quite right with his suit. Being the loyal secretary and friend that I was, I blurted, I can see your underwear. "What!" he exclaimed. Not only that, I can almost count the hairs on your legs. You're wearing see-through clothes.

Needless to say, he went home and changed, gave the clothes away, and never shopped there again.

I solved the expensive vs. cheap suit problem years ago. I don't wear them.
