Beatnik

My co-worker has entered a beatnik faze or something. He just said, "I'm going to give that cat a call," referring to telephoning a male human being. Earlier he said, "that's just crazy, man." Shortly before that, "cool, man, cool." Is that beatnik speak? Whatever it is, I hope it's only temporary.

Like man most of what passes as beatnik speak comes from Maynard G Krebs (Bob Denver) on the Dobie Gillis TV show from a long time ago.

You know he's really gone to the dark side if he says Daddyo or clicks his fingers instead of clapping.
