Bloglines and ads

There's some discussion in the blawg (for the uninitiated, usually a blog by a lawyer) world today over Bloglines and the fact that it is soliciting ads. I'm not going to comment on any blawgers, except to say, they are some very smart people for whom I have a lot of respect.

I've been with Bloglines almost from its beginning. Everyday when I log in, I hold my breath thinking it's going to start charging for the service, or worse yet, putting ads in feeds. So far, so good.

Now, though, it looks like ads are going to be part of the Bloglines business model according to Read/Write Web: Contextual Adverts in Bloglines in 2005.

That means my little know nothing blog has the potential to generate revenue for Bloglines with nothing in it for me. Obviously, it wouldn't be a lot of revenue. My initial reaction: Not good. This deserves a lot more thought.
