Five things to look for in a new town
I'm not moving anytime soon. But, if I was, here are five basic requirements for a place to live:
- Locally owned coffee shop
- Independent bookstore / record store / skate shop
- Radio stations that are locally programmed
- A family owned steak joint where you can either go in and get a salad, steak, baked potato, and a small bottle of wine, or get it at the drive-up window, if you so desire
- Rich guys who think they know everything
P.S. I really don't even care about rich guys. I just couldn't think of a good fifth thing.

Wow -- you're talking about Berkeley. Including item Number 5 (and if you want even more of No. 5, I suggest Palo Alto).
