Day Five Rehab

Things have settled down a little and mom is settling in. I think. She seems to be less upset about what's happening than we are. I think.

For her benefit, I made a conscious effort today not to show any feelings of ill will towards the place. It occurs to me that she was making the same conscious effort for my benefit.

It's so obvious the main factor in operating a nursing home or rehab facility is money when it should be the well being of the inhabitants. It's not difficult to imagine the owners of the place issuing a mandate to the managers to keep costs to a minimum. Wages and staff must be the biggest cost. Much of the staff (not all) appear to be medical field rejects. They look like and act like people who couldn't get hired by a hospital or a doctor's office.
