Day Nine Rehab

Wednesday. I may have found one thing to like about my mom's rehab facility. The place is so dismal and dingy, except for the mechanized paper towel dispenser. Strangely, they have modern paper towel dispensers that you just wave your hand in front of and the paper towel appears. Of course, the room is so small and cramped that when you walk from one side of the bed to the other, you have to pass by the paper towel dispenser and paper towels come pouring out.

Until it was time to leave, mom had a pretty good day. She got some cards from her church friends, a handmade postcard from Allie, and a beautiful Easter lily from me and the girls. But, as the time grew late, her mood became gloomy. We talked to her about it. She said she dreads the nighttime. She feels alone. It's hard to sleep. She didn't say it, but I know she's scared. And, she didn't want us to leave, but she knows that we had to go. This is so heartbreaking.

Allie has some things to say about the situation on her blog.
