Starbucks Delocator

In a small effort to thwart big business effects on small locally owned businesses, I just successfully uploaded information about Grab-A-Java, my favorite coffee shop, to the Starbucks Delocator (via Joi Ito). From the delocator.net essay:

Currently, independently owned cafés around the world are under aggressive attack; and their numbers have been sharply decreasing for many years. delocator.net is a means to preserve these local businesses.

While Grab-A-Java isn't actually a coffee house in the traditional sense of the term, it serves my daily tea drinking needs much better than Starbucks. Enter a zip code into the Starbucks Locator to find a nearby coffee shop. Or, enter the zip code for downtown Springfield, Illinois (62701), to find Grab-A-Java. There are other coffee shops and one other Grab-A-Java in Springfield. I just don't know anything about them or I would have uploaded that information, too.

Although I admit I sometimes indulge in the brewed beverages purveyed by the Seattle coffee behemoth, this is really cool. I have a few de-locations I'll list here myself.

Grab-A-Java? Naah. Best coffeehouse in town is the Suns Up Koffee Kafe on 1st street! Good coffee, no pretentious attitude. Best of all, a toybox, puzzles, and coloring books for kids---I can actually drink a leisurely cup of coffee and read something without hearing, "Mama? When are we going to go? I want to go!"

Thanks for this. I love to see the grassroots growing.
