  1. It was recorded and made famous by Glen Campbell
  2. It was written by Jimmy Webb, who also wrote MacArthur Park
  3. It was released in 1969 as an antiwar song
  4. But, it was really about the Spanish-American War
  5. I can't get the song out of my head

Thanks for posting that info on the song.
I too from time to time have that song in my head.

What with Hurricane Rita making landfall north near port arthur it looks like the Island will be spared.
