Shot from across five lanes this past Saturday morning.

We don't see too many DeLoreans around these parts. As a matter of fact, I think this is the first time I've seen one here since the 70's. When I lived in Michigan in the early 80's, DeLorean sightings were almost an everyday occurrence. I do realize I might have been seeing the same DeLorean every time, but still.

I wonder if a person can get any stats on which state has or had the most DeLorean registrations? I'd be willing to bet Michigan is at the top.

Apparently, this abandoned gas station on Ninth Street near Cook is quite the hang out for old guys with sports cars. Shortly after I started shooting this guy, another old guy in a black Corvette pulled in right behind him. Whereupon, they admired each other's metal (and fiberglass). Hey, don't get me wrong. I have nothing against old guys with sportscars. Rather, I'm particularly fond of them. Even though, as it turns out, I'm a scaredy cat when it comes to 'em.

Obituary from March 2005: John DeLorean "was a world-class conman, despite a brilliant early engineering career at General Motors."

FACT: every delorean registered since 1985 will have a license plate that says "BAKNTIM" or "OUTATIM" or some other variation on the theme.

Excellent to know, Jason. And, for most people, that will be DeLorean's legacy.

What the hell is a jigga-watt???

California had the most DeLorean dealerships back in the early 80's but New York and Michigan were probably #2 and #3.

Good eye with the fiberglass commment. The Corvette isn't the only fiberglass car. The DeLorean has a fibreglass body, with the stainless panels fit over top.

And yes, I have a fake California licence plate that says "OUTATIME"

I don't know where I got this, but for some reason I always thought the DeLorean body was mostly aluminum. Not that I would know. Thanks for the info, Martini.

No problem. It's remarkable how many DeLorean posts I stumble across. Nice to see people still find the car interesting.
