No relief in sight

This is the forecast for Springfield, Illinois, starting tonight. Check out those upper 90's. The extended forecast doesn't look much better. But, then you look back and see the temperature was a record breaking high of 112° on July 14, 1954, and 98° seems downright frosty. Well, not really.
Speaking of frosty, here he is. Does this make you feel any cooler? Or, tipsy, perhaps?

From our family archives, circa 1959.
