Shopping ideas
For those amongst us who won't be partaking in the throngs and throes of the multitudes of masses on black Friday, a few Springfield shopping alternatives for later:
- The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum has a nice gift shop. You can shop online, or go in person. Love those Lincoln shot glasses. (He was from Bourbon Country, ya know.) [Edit: Just realized, they are not yet online. Sorry.]
- The Thomas Rees Memorial Carillon online shop has a fine selection of carillon music CDs, books, note cards, and a print.
- The Sumac Shop isn't doing business on line as of yet. But, the carriage house at Frank Lloyd Wright's Dana Thomas House is open for business each week, Wednesday through Sunday.
- The Illinois State Museum gift shop has tons of cool toys, games, and souvenirs, but no online shopping.
- The Split Rail Shop at Lincoln Memorial Gardens has some neat wooden toys, books, and field guides. But, you gotta go there.
- I think I heard the 2007 season tickets are now on sale for the Springfield Muni Opera.
- The Official Springfield City Ornament can be bought on line or at several locations throughout Springfield. This year's ornament is entitled, "On the Circuit."
Get shopping, and good luck.

Marie, as I commented elsewhere, this is likely the finest collection of Lincoln- and Springfield, Illinois-related gift ever assembled. I'm awestruck!

Um ... "gifts" ... plural. I always make typos when I'm awestruck.
