Career thoughts
Thinking about where law and technology are now, and putting together a loosely knit idea.
If I was starting over, or had the energy of an 18 to 30 year old, instead of just sitting around being a legal secretary and/or paralegal all these years, this is what I would seriously consider doing:
- Get a college degree in some sort of legal studies program, or, a legal assistant or paralegal certificate;
- Load up on software and hardware knowledge;
- Get a part-time job as paralegal (to gain experience and pick up a steady paycheck); and
- Start a courtroom consulting business aimed at assisting litigators with pretrial and trial presentation with an emphasis on technology.
Like I said, this is just a loosely knit idea. The type of consulting business I'm thinking of would probably be better suited to a litigation bar the size of the one in Central Illinois, as opposed to a major metropolitan area. After talking to several people around the courthouse recently, I think there would be a decent market for something like this around here.

You are still a young thing. Do it now.

Thanks for the good thought. But, I am ready to wind down, not up.
