We get racoon questions

I've actually seen this happen. A raccoon waddled its way into the sewer via an open storm drain a half block down from my house. And that's how raccoons get down the sewer.

Raccoons are sly little things. They'll do anything to get into a place they want to be. Last year, I left the attic window open too late into the fall. As it got cold enough, a raccoon swiped his way through the screen window and took up residence in the attic. We have dogs, though, so they knew something was up up there, and it didn't take long to get him run off, but geez!

I've seen whole families of raccoons -- at least I *assumed* they were related -- emerging from the storm drains in our neighborhood. Scout, the resident dog, always checks out the most likely drains when we're on night-time walks.
