Court TV becomes Tru.tv January 1st

I keep seeing commercials on cable TV announcing what the headline of this blog entry says. From the ads, it appears tru.tv will consist of shows featuring people doing action things like jumping off things. I do that sometimes (the curb, the last stair). Well, more in my younger days than now.

Rarely do I watch Court TV. But, when I do, all I see are non-court shows like totally predictable murder movies and séance type shows with people trying to find ghosts. I think that's the network those shows are on.

Twenty-four hour action shots seems like an odd concept. But, I guess it's okay. Just one question: Does that mean there's no longer a market for courtroom shows? Or, maybe those things just aren't interesting anymore (assuming they ever were).

I think real-life trial TV could make a comeback if/when Barry Bonds goes on trial and they spend days describing how he got shots of "flaxseed oil" in his hind end.

And in other news, Merry Christmas, Marie -- it's been great reading you this year.

Why is there no sound?

Gloria, I'll see what I can do. In the meantime, assuming you've checked the volume on your set and channel changer, please call your cable company. Thanks and good luck.

Did our courttv message board go up in smoke? There needs to be more in session court time coverage, this filler stuff is not good. Where was the Marion sentencing?????

Court TV used to be great with actual trial coverage most of the day. But now, it ends way too early and the fill-ins from 3:00 Central time till the end of the day are a waste. You are costng yourselves viewers. How do we log onto trial coverage for results?

I miss Catherine Crier and the other court coverage. And now that you cut Star Jones, I change channels at 300pm. I am disabled and Tru TV is my favorite station to watch. I would like more, like Rikki, she was good sitting in for Nancy. Please bring these back!

Why did you cut Starr Jones? It was a great show. I waited for it everyday at 3:00 p.m. Doesn't Tru TV like to promote the trut? Well, Starr tells it. The show was great and such a refreshing change to the regular fluffy, studid, "girl" chat shows. What with Oprah playing God and the other foolishness on the air; Starr and her female guests were a breath of fresh air. Get a clue Tru TV. If you are about the truth, bring back Starr and Rikki and other strong women. I'm bored without them!

I hate "tru tv" I want the courtroom back. Live, intelligent conversations and legal arguments are much more interesting than canned programming. When they get back to covering trials, I'll return to watching.

I agree with the comments made above. I loved Catherine Crier and Starr Jones Shows. I too have changed to other channels.

I am so disgusted with Tru TV. Used to love watching the trial coverage and intelligent discussions about current events. Can't beleive they just cut Starr Jones, like that! Totally miss Catherine Crier, too. Won't be watching any longer! Dumb big wigs don't know what they are doing!!

I totally agree with the viewers that miss the trial coverage that was cut, particularly Catherine Crier. I don't watch Tru Tv when they are not covering trials. Many of the trials take place on the west coast and don't even get started until 12:00 pm in the east. That usually means we are watching coverage the next morning from the day before. So much for live TV.

court tv was best when they covered trials live by day (all over the country) and then recapped them at night, especially if the case garnered national attention. this tru tv crap is a waste of my time and the talent of some outstanding correspondants. whoever came up with tru tv needs to be fired!

I really liked the live trial coverage also and always felt that nightly replays were what was needed. Give us back the old CourtTV. Didn't like Catherine Crier so much and never watched the Starr Jones show. Crier was too political and Starr did too much fluff. Go back to the CourtTV of 8 to 9 years ago. But now that they are owned by CNN that will never happen

I agree with most of the post of other viewers or x-viewers. I too have stopped watching since you took Starr Jones off. I loved Catherine Crier and then I watched Starr but since you've taken them off, I have quit watching Tru-TV (Court TV).
Wish whoever makes these decisions would reconsider.

Watching Court TV was so educational and interesting. Go back to covering trials by day
and recaps at night. TruTV is boring and bland.

Please considering returning to the old Court TV format or at least carrying the trials a couple of hours more each day. Tru TV is sorely mistaken if they think they will keep the loyal viewers that loved Court TV. All of that car chasing and beach patrol stuff is redundant at best and gets old really fast! Please listen to your viewers!
