Happy Birthday, President Lincoln

lincoln_arms_crossed.jpg Today was Abraham Lincoln's 200th Birthday. I almost missed blogging this, which is kind of strange since I've been blogging about the Bicentennial Commission since June of 2003.

It was all about Lincoln today in Springfield. The best coverage can be found at the SJ-R's birthday diary. Be sure to check all the links on that page.

The good people at the SJ-R also put together a creative and really touching video of some of Springfield's residents reciting the Gettysburg Address. Amazing.

Seems like there was something else. Oh yeah, President Barack Obama came to Springfield tonight to talk to the 102nd Abraham Lincoln Association annual banquet. (Speech.)

The day in pictures.

Love the picture of the delightful young girl receiving the ceremonial flag. Hope it doesn't end up on E-bay.
