Phil Hare election night results [final]

From Sangamon County only:

BOBBY SCHILLING (REP) . . . . . . 797 29.66%
PHIL HARE (DEM) . . . . . . . . 1,722 64.09%

As of about 8:30 p.m.:

In the precincts reported 44.28% of the voters have turned out (19,022 of 42,955).
37.93% of the precincts have been reported 88 of 232.

This looks good, but I haven't looked at the other counties yet.

Update 1: More results for the whole state her: thecapitolfaxblog.com/2010/11/02/election-results-live-blog-part-1

Update 2: And here's a screenshot of the 17th from the Suntimes as of 8:41:

Election_Nov2_17th_Illinois.jpg

With 229 of 745 Precincts Reporting - 31%

Schilling , Bobby GOP 29,470 56%
Hare , Phil (i) Dem 21,106 40%
Davis , Roger Grn 2,404 5%

It's still early. Right?

Update 3:

PLEASE NOTE: Results posted election night do NOT include provisional ballots and may not include all absentee ballots cast by mail. Provisional ballots determined to be valid will be counted and added to the election results within 14 calendar days after the date of the election. Valid absentee ballots submitted by mail, if postmarked or dated on or before 11:59 p.m. the day immediately preceding the election but received within 14 calendar days after the election, will be counted and added to the election results.

That's from the Sangamon County Clerk's office. But it applies to the whole state. So 14 more days for the whole count.

Update 4: This is a map of the insanely drawn 17th Congressional District in Illinois:

Illinois17thMap.jpg

I live in that little green smudge which takes in a very small part of Springfield's east side.

I'm avoiding looking at the updated statewide results. We really need Phil Hare and I don't want to see him go.

Update 5: District wide as of 9:24 p.m.:

Election_Nov2_17th_Illinois_2.jpg

483 of 745 Precincts Reporting - 65%
Schilling , Bobby GOP 62,222 54%
Hare , Phil (i) Dem 48,035 42%
Davis , Roger Grn 5,215 5%

This does not look good.

Update 6: From the SJ-R's tweet about 9:35 p.m.:

SJRelection Election Night Live
Repb Schilling leading Dem Hare in the oddly shaped 17th Cong district. That district has been Dem since the 80s!

And the Capitol Fax blog started a new thread here: thecapitolfaxblog.com/2010/11/02/election-results-live-blog-part-2-claypool-concedes

Update 7: From the Capitol FAx Blog:

* 9:42 pm - Phil Hare is conceding
U.S. Rep. Phil Hare’s spokesman says the congressman has accepted he will lose the election. Hare is expected to make his concession speech in the next few minutes.

From the Suntimes (AP) feed:

Election_Nov2_17th_Illinois_3.jpg

603 of 745 Precincts Reporting - 81%
* Schilling , Bobby GOP 79,275 54%
Hare , Phil (i) Dem 61,586 42%
Davis , Roger Grn 6,862 5%

It's over.

Belatedly: Love the election-night vote tracking--it's what we were doing in our radio newsroom the same night (although our local Tea Party-infused race, the California's 11th Congressional District, turned out a little differently--the incumbent moderate Democrat beat the angry corporate-lawyer-turned-insurgent).

Sorry about that. You know, I'd be curious about whether Schilling's pizza is any good. I think a quality pie would speak well of the man. Not that I would expect a quality pie.

(The New York Times had a piece that featured Schilling yesterday: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/12/us/politics/12freshman.html?_r=1&scp=1&sq=bobby%20schilling&st=cse)
