Upper pond

This dizzyingly crooked picture is of the upper pond in Springfield's Washington Park. It was stocked with trout today.

* "The last boxcar loaded with Anheuser-Busch (now InBev) products left the St. Louis brewery on March 13."

I love having a park to myself but it also saddens me that there aren't more people in them walking their dogs or letting their kids run and play, laugh and scream. I would definitely pack a lunch and eat there.

I agree with Rob, that looks like a nice place to take a break.

That was a cute video at the SJ-R site. Since they stock that pond every year I gather people fish it. Does it get fished out fairly quickly?

Rob, where I took that picture from is sort of off the main path. There's usually a lot of people in that park -- even on the iciest winter days. And, except for winter, they close it off to vehicular traffic on Sundays, so the walkers and runners can take over the road. Which, come to think of it, they pretty much do, even when there are cars on the road.

Dave, I'm not sure. Except when there's ice on the pond, I see people fishing there pretty much all the time. If I had to guess, I'd say the pond also has crappie and definitely carp (ugh). That fish the guy was holding looked pretty small.

It's my favorite park, and Springfield's best. I love going there, even if only for drive around the loop. Very relaxing.

P.S. That guy in the video probably has one of the best jobs in government.
