Agape at 10

Monroe Street, Springfield, Illinois.

Give me slack for what I'm about to tell you because I was too young to know better when I did this, even though my mother said otherwise. My best friend through grade school lived around the corner from a little church. Before it became a church, I believe it was a house. It was a little white house being used as a church. In the summertime, when the weather was hot, they would prop open the front door during evening services to let some air in. We'd walk over there and stand on the sidewalk, staring inside, agape, as the parishioners rolled up and down the center aisle while the preacher spoke in tongues. At the age of 10, we had never seen anything like it. Even though it's not for me, I do respect that now.

My two favorite tweets so far this week:

Word RT @rkref: RT @oclack: The only thing scarier to Republicans than a 2-term Obama is the Tea Party. (Via Karoli.)

joe_hill: The country is torn asunder. We're at a point where I'm not even sure the right & left can agree that Sister Christian is motorin'. #madness (Via Marilyn.)

I've decided that if and when I finish my memoirs, I'm going to name it "None Ya." That way, when people ask, "what's the name of your book?" I can reply, none ya. It's going to be a big seller.

Whenever I see Joe Hill, I think of Joan Baez. Probably where he got his moniker. I like None Ya.

I like "None Ya" too.

That first step in the pic is kind of a doozy.
