Waiting for pizza

gabs-2011-11-25.jpg

This was the scene in the drive-up window alley behind Gabatoni's tonight. It got even more clustery when two cars managed to back out of their parking spaces and squeeze between the parked cars and the cars in line going the wrong way. I cannot ever remember seeing it this crowded. I was raised on Gabatoni's, which is a lot like being raised on robbery, but not.

As soon as I saw that parking lot, I knew it was Gabatoni's. I can smell and taste that pizza rignt now! Yummy!

So, did you get a pizza or just a picture? :)

Love Joni Mitchell.

Carol, I always think of you when I go there.

Definitely got the pizza, Rob. It may not be the best in the world, but it is in Springfield.

If you ever make it back to New Orleans, Marie, I'll take you to our best, Mark Twain's Pizza Landing. And if you can think of a better name for a pizza joint, we should open it. :)

Drive-thru pizza. I don't think I've ever seen that. What a concept.

Dave, I don't know if you're joking. We have a couple of those here.

I didn't think he was, Marie. I've never seen a drive-thru pizza place.

Rob's correct, Marie. I've never picked up drive-thru pizza. If such a thing is available in the entire Twin Cities I have never heard of it. That kind of makes me wonder, in more ways than one.

Okay, wait. Is that drive-thru like a Burger King or is it just drive up to pick up a pizza order that had been phoned-in(which I still haven't seen here)?

Yes, you definitely have to phone ahead. It usually takes about a half hour to an hour to make the food. It's fine Italian dining with inside seating and you can pick up anything on the menu at the drive-up, except liquor. For that you have to go to the drive-up window at the package liquor store. (added: package liquor store down the street and around the corner.)
