I'm not defending Mitt Romney, but I have to know why Newt Gingrich keeps pointing out that Mitt Romney speaks French? What's wrong with that? Are people supposed to be upset? Afraid?

I expect to hear more and more idiotic and/or mean things coming out of the Gingrich campaign.

I agree, Rob. Definitely.

The French thing is kind of funny. Somebody ought to tell Newt that Andrew Jackson was probably the first president to *not* speak at least some French (but Newt the Historian undoubtedly knows that).

(And I might be wrong about Jackson--Rob, didn't he hang out with Jean Lafitte down in your neck of the woods?)

Yeah, they hung out for a while in 1815 and I know Jackson learned a thing or two from Lafitte. :)
