This fake chimney was left standing for about a week after the Steak 'n Shake, formerly Golden Bear (the pancake house, not Jack Nicklaus) was demolished. Sixth and Ash.

* Springfield transportation hub concept gains support:

Conceptual drawings for a single, public transportation hub in downtown Springfield are catching on, even though there is no money for construction and it isn’t clear just yet where the facility would be located.

The proposed site is the block between Jefferson and Washington, Ninth and Tenth. This is the location of the old downtown Greyhound station before it was moved to the outskirts of town. It's also the current location of the Salvation Army, which, I believe, is right in the middle of a big capital fundraising campaign to improve the site. The article doesn't mention anything about taking the land from the Salvation Army. Also, it hasn't even been decided whether passenger rail will be moved from Third Street. Other than that, sounds great.

* Un-freaking-real!

* America.
