Fourth and Washington. Tonight.

* I can't believe they're seriously considering putting wind farms in the Great Lakes. Oh yeah, there's wind out there. And occasionally, huge, unforgiving waves. But what about the beauty? Does anyone actually think the people that live around those shorelines would stand for it? This ain't Massachusetts.

* Edit to add: Haven't they heard of the Edmund Fitzgerald?

* Lake Shore Drive (a beautiful song for a beautiful road).

I think you know my opinion of wind farms already, so you can imagine my thoughts about them in Lake Superior along Minnesota's North Shore. I don't see it happening there for a number of aesthetic and technical reasons. As far as elsewhere in the Great Lakes, I would be opposed for the same reason I oppose them on land. They are costly boondoggles that are doomed to rust away as monuments to stupidity.

Dave, even if they weren't a costly boondoggle, and perhaps someday they won't be, putting them anywhere in the Great Lakes is a bad idea.
