And then I woke up

Baker Drive.

I've had some really strange dreams the last couple days. In the first one, I overheard two guys, neither of which I ever saw, say how they were going to torch Cheryl's (not her real name) house. I told them they couldn't do that and I was going to call the police. They said if I did, they would kill me.

I was scared, but obviously not scared enough not to follow them to Cheryl's house, which was on some low ground between two highways. I watched them from her backyard, which was actually a commercial parking lot. Then I noticed some highway workers on the road up and behind us. Apparently, the arsonists noticed them too, because they left.

I went around to the front where it appeared Cheryl's house was designed by the same architect who did the old Holiday Inns from the 50s and 60s. So, I went inside and found Cheryl in the bar area. The floor was terribly slanted with bad carpeting and all the furniture was small and wooden like a child's furniture, also from the 60s. Also, the ceiling may have been very low because you had to walk on your knees.

I told Cheryl, "I have to tell you something very important." She leaned close to me, and as I contemplated how to tell her she was about to become homeless, it occurred to me that she'd be better off if her house really did burn to the ground. And then I woke up.

In the second dream, I was assigned to drive the getaway car for two criminals in Chicago. The unknown person or persons who assigned this job to me said I was well suited to it because I knew the streets of Chicago like no one else. Okay, really? I accepted the assignment only because the car was a finely tuned blue 1972 Camaro.

The crime was to occur in an old brick warehouse on some low-lying ground on the west side of Chicago. I drove around the block and found a place to park in the alley. As I walked in the backdoor, the two criminals -- my charges -- came running down a dimly lit hallway with iron sheet metal for walls, yelling, "go go go!"

We got out of there and I jumped into the driver's seat and they got in the backseat. I sped out of the alley, fish-tailing onto Lower Wacker Drive, which was strange because it was no where near the warehouse. I looked at them in the rear view mirror and noticed they were both about my age and very good looking. I said, "where do you want to go?" They said nothing, turned to each other, and started making out. And then I woke up.

Good dreams. So were the two criminals men or women?

Oh yeah, I left out that part. LOL. They were men. Thanks, Dave.
